About the Artist:
Allie Nicastro is a Gloucester-based artist currently pursuing a Bachelor of Fine Arts, with a concentration in Painting, at Massachusetts College of Art and Design. Her work is often inspired by her own life experiences growing up in Gloucester, using the landscape as well as her family as subjects. Other pieces exhibit a surreal theme, including a heavily layered composition. She primarily works from observation, using oil and acrylic paints.
“My artwork is not limited to one style, medium, or subject. Instead the common piece all of my artwork shares is me, showing a different perspective of an aspect of my life. Every work I produce shows an element of the way I view the world … by having something to say with every brush stroke, my artwork has a common theme of my experiences.” – Allie Nicastro
Allie’s work has earned her a People’s Choice Award in the Crane Estate Art Show as well as multiple Silver and Gold Keys in the Scholastic Art and Writing Awards. She received the Foundation Painting Award at Massachusetts College of Art and Design. She has also shown work at the Rocky Neck Art Association, MassArt, Source Bakery, Bank Gloucester and North Shore Arts Association.
